TRAINING: AI chat systems, agents, and tools

Tomáš Raček presented the What Happens After You Press Enter? talk to colleagues from CEITEC, the National Centre for Biomolecular Research (NCBR), and Palacký University. Starting with the familiar experience of using a chat interface, the session unpacked the systems behind it and clarified the distinctions between models, providers, interfaces, applications, tools, and agents.

The presentation covered context, retrieval, tool use, memory, and agent control loops, with an emphasis on choosing the right division of labour: language models for ambiguous language tasks and deterministic software for exact computation, querying, parsing, and validation. It also addressed the limits of fluent output, reproducibility, and reliability in research workflows.
